Accelerate Nicotiana benthamiana Growth by 76% with Cascade Oxygen Control

Plant cell cultures hold enormous potential for producing high-value biomolecules, yet slow growth rates remain a major bottleneck for scale-up and industrial productivity. In this study, we explored how cascade dissolved oxygen (DO) control, which combines dynamic agitation and aeration strategies, can significantly improve the performance of Nicotiana benthamiana cultivation in stirred-tank bioreactors.

The result: up to 76% faster growth rates and a reduction in culture time from 21 days to just 10, while maintaining successful scale-up conditions from bench to pilot scale.
