A COFUND Research Fellowship Program
The future and development is in our hands, and to promote it, Bionet participates in Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship for researchers, promoting cross-border and intersectoral mobility.
Internationally respected in industry and academia, a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship is a recognised mark of research excellence.
Researchers working across all disciplines, from life-saving healthcare to ‘blue-sky’ science, are eligible for funding, typically through fixed-term fellowships.
This scholarship program is already paying off and as an example we are part of the ambitious project called Talent4BBI, which will be led by BiOrbic, SFI Bioeconomy Research Centre located at the University College Dublin (UCD). We will soon introduce you to the great professionals who are doing their Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship with us and we will share their feedback with you!

About Talent4BBI
Bionet is proud to participate in the ambitious Talent4BBI project, an MSC Research Fellowship programme.
This project will be led by BiOrbic, Bioeconomy SFI Research Centre located in University College Dublin (UCD).
Talent4BBI brings together 9 industry and 7 academic partners in 8 Member States and 1 Associated Country with the aim of training a cohort of 11 highly skilled industry-ready ESRs equipped to lead the future of the European bio-based industry sector.

Background
Traditional biotechnological processes relevant to the bioeconomy tend to use batch or fed-batch fermentations. Continuous systems are under increasing interest due to their small size, easier process control, and higher productivity.
Acceleration of this trend in the biopharmaceutical industry has been facilitated by the adoption of perfusion technology which harnesses the use of a filtration membrane to increase cell density in the bioreactor, or the removal of non-desired by-products, or the continuous harvesting of the products of interest, and to enable extraordinary levels of productivity.

It will harness the synergies between experimental and modelling work and the synergies between an academic-industry collaboration approach.

Methodologies
The researcher will have the opportunity to work in a pilot plant that is fully supported by experienced professionals, the researcher will also spend time in a university environment where training in process modelling and optimization will be developed.

Industrial Doctorates
Another way in which Bionet enhances this relationship with the academic world is through the Industrial PhD program.
We are proud to inform you that we are currently working closely with several PhDs who are already part of this program, for whom we are making available all our facilities, knowledge and collaborations to open up a world of opportunities for them.
